Dr. Olivier Postel

Vice President of Foundry Business Development and Quality, Purchasing, Legal

Olivier reports to CEO Frank Caris and wears two hats. He is responsible for Foundry Business Development and for the Quality, Purchasing and Legal departments. dpiX now has production lines for thin film transistors and photodiode sensors on glass and flexible polyimide on GEN4.5; the largest flat panel display production line outside of Asia.

After joining dpiX in 2003 in Palo Alto, Olivier lead process, integration and yield engineering groups before moving to Colorado Springs.  There he led the start-up of the newly created GEN4.5 division. The sirens of Silicon Valley brought him back to California to join a solar cell startup. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out … it did not work out! Jumping into the next opportunity, Olivier expatriated to Austria at Lam Research to head the wafer spin clean division technology organization until it dissolved. In 2013, he moved the family back to Silicon Valley (again) and returned to the world of displays at Vitriflex, as VP of Business Development. He travelled extensively internationally, built relations with many Asian display manufacturers and worked closely with the company’s corporate investors, including Henkel Electronics which he joined in 2016 as Global Market Segment Head of the Displays Business Unit.

Olivier rejoined dpiX in 2019, managing the quality, procurement and legal group in addition to the business development group to penetrate adjacent markets with a strategic focus on flexible electronics, wearables and medical sensors. An exciting time in dpiX’s 20+ years of existence!

A little known fact is that NASA sponsored his PhD and he did his research using an actual rocket used for space propulsion. An expression Olivier likes to use is “not needing to be a rocket scientist to figure {something} out.”  He holds M.S. in Materials Sciences, M.S. in Solid State Chemistry from France and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and finished with post-graduate studies at Stanford University’s Plasma Physics Laboratory.

Olivier likes cycling both on roads and off-road mountain biking, downhill skiing with his son, Maxim, and leisurely hikes on week-ends with his wife, Sandra. Looking at the soaring Pikes Peak Mountain, it might be time to upgrade to an electric mountain bike! So many outdoor opportunities in Colorado.
